Accommodation

The official partner of the Symposium is the four-star Fregat Hotel, located in a park area 750 meters from the main building of the Karelian Research Center, where meetings will be held. This hotel is opened in 2015 and sufficiently expanded in 2018. Currently, the hotel has 80 rooms of various categories, a restaurant, parking, a gym, and high-speed wireless Internet. The room price includes a breakfast buffet.

For the participants of the “Mires of Northern Eurasia” Symposium, the Fregat Hotel provides a special discount for rooms. Special price flyers will be sent out to registered participants together with a second newsletter.

But generally, the organizing committee does not limit the freedom of choice for the participants of the symposium, moreover, the choice of accommodation in the city of Petrozavodsk is quite wide, from cheap hostels to luxury hotels, leaving alone dozens of apartments for rent. Reservation of housing is easiest to do via Internet booking services: http://www.booking.com, https://www.agoda.com/, https://www.trivago.com/, or via any other aggregator. The use of aggregator booking services is more preferable because normally they contain more up-to-date information on discounts. Besides, keep in mind that the own websites of Russian hotels (cheap ones especially), unfortunately, often have information in Russian only. The main suggestion for the guests of the symposium is to rent housing within walking distance from the main building of the KarRC (Pushkinskaya, 11). Please find some examples of places to stay below.

Splurge hotels:
Cosmos Hotel https://ptz.cosmos-hotels.ru/en/ - big hotel from the national 'Cosmos' network on the shore of Lake Onega, 5 minutes from the venue of the Symposium
Onezhskiy Zamok Hotel  https://onego-zamok.ru/ - on the shore of Lake Onega, a 7-minute walk from the main building of the KarRC.
Sakvoyage Hotel https://www.rk-hotel.ru/?lang=en - on a quiet street in the city center, five minutes walk from the meeting place.
Severnaya Hotel http://severnaya.info/en/ - traditionally the main hotel of the city, located on the main street halfway from the railway station to the main building of the KarRC.

Hostels and budget hotels:
Petrozavodsk Hotel  http://petrohostel.ru - in the city center, a few meters from the central street, 10-15 minutes. walk to the venue of the symposium.
Karelia-hostel http://kareliahostel.ru - next to Lake Onega, 15 min. walk to the venue of the symposium
Brusnika Hostel  https://brusnikahostel.ru/petrozavodsk - in the city center. 15 minutes walk to the main building of the KarRC.
Maski Hotel https://maski.ruhotel.su/ - a small hotel on the same street as the main building of the KarRC, a five-minute walk.

Lunches.

Even though we decided not to organize dinners at the conference venue, this should not be a big problem. On the neighboring streets, there are quite a lot of different options for lunch from inexpensive diners and fast-food restaurants up to splurge ones. The main problem for foreign visitors is that the staff does not speak English and often there is no English menu in many places. If this situation puzzles you, we have the opportunity to organize the lunches during three days of meetings at the Fregat restaurant in the hotel of the same name. Lunches can be organized for all three days (as well as for any individual days). The preliminary cost of a single person lunch is 570 rubles (about 8 Euros), so a package of lunch for three days costs about 25 Euros. NB! The cost of this service is not included in the registration fee of the Symposium. About two to three weeks before the conference opens, we will provide a poll of registered participants regarding the organization of lunches.

And the last thing we would like to say. In case if you still have some questions, do not hesitate to ask Sergey Znamenskiy (or anyone of the Symposium team members).
