Accommodation Page

Another piece of practical information for potential participants in the Symposium. A new page is devoted to the Symposium accommodation. The official partner of the symposium is the four-star Fregat Hotel, located in a quiet green corner of the city center, 750 meters from the venue. However, we do not limit the choice of a possible settlement and also provide information on alternative options for participants with different budgets.

Hotel Fregat's restaurant also offers assistance with organizing lunch on meeting days. A corresponding poll will be conducted among registered symposium participants later. Do not forget to follow the updates on the site.

Good News Everyone

A couple of good news this morning.

First, today we celebrate the birthday of the head of the steering committee of our symposium, as well as the head of the Karelian mire science, Dr. Oleg Kuznetsov. If you would like, you can wish him a happy birthday by email personally.

Second (but not less important), we extend the registration period for our symposium for another month. The new deadline is March 20, 2020. If for some reason you did not have time to decide whether you will participate in the symposium, you have another month to resolve this issue. The link to the registration form is still on the menu on the left.

Helsinki - Petrozavodsk air connection

Important updates to our travel info page. Firstly, 'Severstal-avia' air company (https://severstal-avia.ru/en/) will start flights between Petrozavodsk and Helsinki from the first decade of May 2020. Two flights within a week (Monday and Friday) are announced. The expected fare is 5500 rubles (about 80 euros). The exact schedule has not yet been published, but anyway it may change by the time of the symposium, so do not forget to follow the news.

Secondly, as announced in a press release of the Ministry of Transport of Karelia, the new terminal of the Petrozavodsk airport should be introduced by the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia, which we will celebrate on June 8, 2020. Thus, the chances of its inauguration by the time of our symposium in September can be evaluated as encouraging.
